Feliz Navidad 🎄
Santa Claus
First order of business for the Christmas season was to get Aaliyah to meet Santa Claus! Everyone was sure that she would cry, but I was feeling pretty confident that she wasn’t going to— guess what? Mama was right! 😌. Maybe she will next year, but Aaliyah just strikes me as the kind of kid who is not going to be afraid of a lot of things. (Should we be worried?)
We have a night owl
Because Hispanic families traditionally celebrate “la noche buena,” we celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve, and we open gifts at midnight. I think most people are familiar with the tradition. Anyway, the plan was that after dinner we’d let Aaliyah open some of her gifts because I wanted to get her to bed on time to avoid any crankiness.
(Aaliyah was spoiled with gifts from every side of her family. Highlights: a pink Radio Flyer Stroll ‘n’ Trike from dada, and a pink Fiat from Tia Carmen, pictured above)
However, after all the commotion of taking pictures and playing with her toys, when I was sure Aaliyah was ready for bed… she fell asleep for about 30 minutes, and then was up at 9pm! She decided that she wasn’t actually tired. This kid definitely has FOMO! She ended up staying up with us all until midnight. That is officially the latest she’s stayed up!
After Christmas
I’ve been on vacation all week and really enjoying the time off! My last Christmas event for the week was taking Aaliyah to see the Cambria Christmas Market. It’s so beautiful, and it honestly finally made me feel like Christmas was happening (of course now that Christmas is over lol). Conveniently, Aaliyah took a great nap before we left. 1 hour at home, the next hour in the car, and she was a trooper at the Christmas market! She loved seeing all the lights, people, and pets. Like I said earlier, this girl has FOMO. She loves being out and about, and soaking in new environments-it keeps her battery going. And her battery was definitely charged. It was another *out past bedtime* night for her. But it was so worth it! Aaliyah is still so small, but I’m starting to feel more and more comfortable taking her with me wherever I go. Sometimes it feels like some places aren’t baby friendly, but then I remember that unless it’s not safe or appropriate, babies can go anywhere with you! We have so much to introduce her to 💖
Xoxo
