She's a Hungry Caterpillar

Becoming a Butterfly

One of my favorite books to read to Aaliyah is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. She seems to really enjoy it too! She loves when I count all of the junk food the caterpillar eats (before he eats his healthy salad lol). He's growing really fast and getting ready to become a beautiful butterfly, and that always makes me think of Aaliyah and the stage of life she is currently in. She points and gasps at the tiny caterpillar in the first pages of the book, and then, at the end, when the last two pages are a big butterfly, she inhales really loudly and looks so excited ๐Ÿ˜‚it's adorable.

She loves being read to, and since she's been babbling a lot, it's fun to have her try and repeat vocabulary words back. I hope that she continues to enjoy reading and picks up on phonics/vocabulary words quickly. I may not be able to help her with math, but reading- we got this! I realized that it’s been at least a year since I took the time to read a book! So I made it my goal to read more too; I downloaded audible and started listening to books while I feed Aaliyah. That’s progress. Also, Aaliyah was gifted a big bag of books so we are stocked and dedicated to reading ❤️.

Play Dates

I’m excited to announce that Aaliyah has made her first friend- Ximena! A good friend of mine has a daughter, an adorable one year old, and we decided to introduce them to each other. It was long overdue but she and I have both been busy. We met up at a park and they couldn’t do very much together, but they waved to each other and smiled. They got on the swings, and enjoyed a few trips down the slides. We will definitely be meeting up again! I love the idea of Aaliyah socializing with other kids and learning good behaviors, and enjoying friendships!

Overall, it’s been a pretty good week! Although sleep hasn’t been that great for me because Aaliyah is going through a mini regression, it’s not as bad as previous ones so it will be ok. I get a long weekend (thank you MLK Jr.), so I’m very excited about getting some rest.

Until next blog! I hope everyone is doing well <3
